Watch the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Drive Itself
Google may be working hard to develop an autonomous car, but in many ways, the technology is already available. If you need proof, the team at Hyundai took a Genesis caravan out to the middle of the Mojave Desert and watched the cars drive themselves, all with just cruise control and lane keep assist features. To make it more dramatic, drivers leaped out of each Genesis and onto a moving truck, proving that the cars could drive one in front of the other through a whole stretch of highway. Hyundai even went so far as to test the car's automatic braking system with a stunt driver inside the car. Of course, Hyundai says not to attempt any of these activities by yourself. The video is intended to demonstrate the driver assist features in the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. Lane departure warning, lane keep assist, advanced smart cruise control with stop/start, blind spot detection, rear-cross traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking are all optional features on the base model. These features helped the car earn a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.Check out the video below to see just how these safety systems work. Source: Hyundai
