Chrysler Establishes Office of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Much like General Motors, Chrysler has decided to create a new office to better handle recalls. The new Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance office will be headed up by Senior Vice President Scott Kunselmen. Chrysler's global engineering group will no longer be responsible for regulatory compliance. Kunselmen will report directly to Chrysler and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, and the hopes are that this new standalone organization will solidify the company's commitment to vehicle safety and compliance. Previously, Kunselmen led the company's NAFTA region team and was in charge of Purchasing and Supplier quality. That position will now fall to Tom Finelli, director of Global Standardization, who will also join the NAFTA leadership team. Kunselmen will also remain a part of the NAFTA leadership team. These changes will hopefully enable the engineering teams to concentrate more fully on meeting product initiatives. Other leadership changes include the appointment of John Nigro to head of NAFTA Product Development. He will now be responsible for all systems and component engineering, vehicle line programs, advanced vehicle development, and more. Before this appointment, Nigro was vice president of Systems & Component Engineering. He will replace Mark Chernoby who has since been appointed to chief operating officer of Product Development.
