2012 BMW 3 Series Recalled for Faulty Head Restraint
BMW is recalling 7600 2012 BMW 3 Series models for a faulty head restraint. The front-seat head restraints, when in their highest position, can travel downward in excess of 25 mm. Federal safety requirements require the distance to be 25 mm or less, as front passengers could suffer an injury in the event of an accident. So far no injuries have been reported. BMW is issuing the recall on models manufactured between October 19, 2011 and March 18, 2012, and will notify owners to schedule an inspection. The issue can be corrected with a clamp for the headrest, at no charge to owners. Owners can contact BMW Customer Relations at (800) 525-7417, or the NHTSA at (888) 327-4236 or www.safecar.gov for further information. Owners may reference recall ID number 12V176000. Source: NHTSA
