2012 Buick Regal GS Not for Grandpas, Competes in Nevada Rally

Buick has made no small effort the past couple of years to appeal to an increasingly younger demographic. The 2012 Buick Regal GS is a key part of this strategy: Buick entered the Regal GS in the Nevada Open Road Challenge last year, and even won the 120-mph class of the Silver State Classic Challenge. As Regal GS lead development engineer Bill Rietow said, "we learned a lot about the intricacies of the course our first time out," adding "this is another great opportunity to showcase the GS and its comfort and capability at real-world condition high speeds. Stability, body control and durability are all being tested to the extremes. Events like these provide safe conditions for us to get away from the test track." Automotive.com's take: We got to test drive the 2012 Buick Regal GS, and while it's 270-hp and standard manual transmission make it more fun to drive than the regular 2012 Buick Regal, it's not quite an Audi A4 or Infiniti G37, with which is shares a similar price tag. Still, Buick has made a dramatic leap forward in attracting younger buyers to the brand, which was one of the initial goals behind the production of the Regal GS. Source: Buick
