2012 Range Rover Evoque Priced: Starting at $43,995
Land Rover announced today that the all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque compact SUV will start at $43,995 for five door models and $44,995 for the sporty coupe including destination charges. The Evoque is the first Land Rover to be developed primarily under the stewardship of Tata, the Indian conglomerate that purchased the storied luxury off-road vehicle builder from Ford in 2008. The Evoque is also the lightest and most fuel-efficient Range Rover, too, with its lightest five-door configuration weighing just 3680 lbs and an estimated 19/28 mpg city/highway. Developed with lightweight materials and 35 lbs of recycled plastics, the company has set out to prove that its SUVs can be environmentally conscious, too. “The Range Rover Evoque sends a powerful message that the company is serious about sustainability and is determined to deliver vehicles that are both relevant and highly desirable,” the company said in a statement. “The Range Rover Evoque addresses the growing consumer need for more environmentally friendly vehicles.” Based on the Land Rover LRX concept that debuted at the January 2008 North American International Auto Show, the Evoque brings a stylish and urban flair as the new entry-level Range Rover compared to the Safari-roaming full-size Range Rover models. Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has signed on as the creative director for several future special edition models. That's right, a pop singer is helping to designing interiors for an automaker.
