2012 Scion iQ Babes 'n' Donuts Ad Certainly Got Us to Look

By Jacob Brown | April 06, 2012
You've probably noticed a swelling of online ads for the 2012 Scion iQ micro car lately. That's because Toyota doesn't want its smallest car to tank in quite the same way the Mercedes-Benz's Smart brand did. Or initial sales for the Fiat 500. Or [insert any number of micro cars ever sold in the U.S.]. Scion believes it has the answer to fix that, though: Babes and donuts. And Milk. That's right, Scion lured us into watching its 50-second YouTube video with attractive women eating donuts and drinking milk while doing donuts in a parking lot. We still don't want a 2012 Scion iQ, but no one in our office regrets the decision to watch the video. Disclaimer before you watch it: It may not be suitable for children or in an office setting. But Scion didn't just stop there. Toyota's youth brand also made similar ads with dudes and donuts that spoofs Jersey Shore, bikers and donuts that features characters looking positively Dog, the Bounty Hunter-esque, and, appropriately enough, cops and donuts. In all four spots, the same woman is piloting the 2012 Scion iQ around a parking lot, albeit dressed differently (if you call it that). As for the other three people in the tiny four-passenger car? Your guess is as good as ours. The 2012 Scion iQ is the smallest four-passenger car on sale in the U.S, albeit you'd be hard pressed to tell it could fit a group of friends in person. Perhaps that's why a small woman is driving each time. We watched the ads and felt no less intelligent for it. But liking an ad doesn't always translate to buying a car. Check all four spots out below.
