2012 Toyota Prius c: Build It and They Will Come

By Joel Arellano | March 12, 2012
The 2012 Toyota Prius c is the latest to join Toyota's ever-expanding hybrid family, and the automaker has released the Prius c online configurator for consumers to build their entry-level hybrid hatchback. The Toyota Prius c configurator offers a breakdown of the four models (unimaginatively called One, Two, Three, and Four), their prices, features, exterior colors, spec info chart, and various accessories and options (which are few; virtually all Toyota Prius c compacts are well-stocked). Starting at $19,710 MSRP for the base Toyota Prius c One—which includes $760 delivery, processing, and handling fee—we easily broke more than $26,800 when we added in (admittedly non-essential) options like alloy wheels ($1,150) and accessories like ashtray cup ($26) and first aid kit (for $29 it's way cheaper just to raid your parents medicine cabinet). We agree with Toyota that most Prius c buyers will find the Toyota Prius c Two ($23,245 with optional sunroof) and Three ($23,990) fulfilling most of their wants and needs. The rest of the Toyota Prius c configurator site discusses the Toyota Prius c advantage; specifically, fuel economy (53 mpg city/46 mpg highway/50 mpg combined); Toyota's all-new entune smartphone-interactive infotainment system, and lots of images and pictures, many of which shoppers can configure to get their right Prius c.
