That ANY luxury-level car comes (standard) with leatherette upolstery is ... a disgrace! That more and more of these luxo models tack on upwards of $495-995 for metallic paint is another gouge the public practice - the typical midsize car has 2.8 liters of paint on it - total Car buyers .. wake up ... quit being hosed by the manufacturers!!
2013 Cadillac ATS Configurator Goes Online, Sans Prices
As we head closer to the 2013 Cadillac ATS' on-sale date this summer, Cadillac has gradually given us more snippets of information regarding its latest compact luxury sedan. First, we got more information about engine options and drivetrain configurations at January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Later, Cadillac doled out specific prices for the ATS' engine options and some trim packages. Now, we have the full configurator that has the options packages that will be available on the ATS. The only problem is that none of the options have prices on them. In the configurator, we can see that the ATS will only have "standard" trim packages available with the base 202-horsepower and turbocharged 272-horsepower engines. The top-of-the-line 3.6-liter V-6 with 321 horsepower will only come in Premium, Luxury, and Sport trim levels. All-wheel drive will only be available with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine or the V-6, and a six-speed manual transmission will only be available on rear-wheel-drive models equipped with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. From there, the 2013 Cadillac ATS will come with two leatherette options on standard models and five leather colors on every other trim level. A sunroof, cold weather package, driver awareness package, and navigation will also be available. High-intensity xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, lane-departure warning, and power seats, and park assist will be available within the Cadillac ATS' various trim levels among many other optional extras. Unlike its German rivals, Cadillac is leaving very little à la carte, with the bulk of options within its Premium, Luxury, and Performance packages. It provides well-defined gateways for customers to pick the cars they want for their specific needs. It doesn't provide as many options, but it also doesn't leave customers wondering how they ended up with $20,000 in extras on a $35,000 car, either. When all the packages are priced, we're interested in seeing just how closely the 2013 Cadillac ATS matches up with its biggest rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Until then, we're just going to keep playing with the configurator here. Let us know how you'd option out a Cadillac ATS in the comments below. Source: Cadillac
