2013 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Starts at $60,445, SS Gets Standard Electric Power Steering

Camaro fans, grab a towel. You'll need it as General Motors released details of its Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible and coupe with 1LE performance package. Chevy continues to offer three model levels in the Camaro lineup based on engine type: V-6, V-8, and supercharged V-8 for the ZL1. Camaros equipped with the V-6 engine are further broken down into LT and LS trims. The Chevrolet Camaro SS and ZL1 are offered with the V-8 and supercharged V-8s respectively. The 1LE package bolsters the Chevy Camaro SS coupe with some of the ZL1's hardware for track heavy duties. The biggest is that both the Chevrolet SS coupe and convertible models will offer electric steering for the first time in its history. Otherwise, changes are minor—though numerous—for the muscle car. The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible keeps its 580-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V-8. Changes for model 2013 include standard Chevrolet MyLink, six standard airbags, electronic stability control, and a new color: blue ray metallic. All Camaros can be equipped with either a six speed manual or automatic transmission. All Chevrolet Camaros with manual transmissions get a ZL1-style shift knob and hill assist, while remote vehicle start is available for certain models with automatic transmissions. The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible is priced starting at $60,445, which includes the $900 destination and handling fee. The 1LE performance package readies the Chevrolet Camaro for regular track sessions. Major changes to Chevy Camaros coupes equipped with 1LE include a higher final drive ratio, monotube rear shock absorbers, larger front and rear stabilizer bars, and a chassis-stiffening brace under the hood. Chevrolet Camaro coupes with 1LE can be distinguished from their slower brethren via unique wheels, front splitter, matte black hood, and spoiler. The Camaro 1LE package adds $3,500 to the coupe. Only 1SS and 2SS coupe models may be purchased with the package. Source: General Motors / Chevrolet
