It's "Year of the Wagon" says Chevrolet, and in honor of China's actual Year of the Dragon, the too-obvious pun theft is the announcement of Chevrolet's newest version of its most popular car, which will be unveiled at this year's Geneva Auto Show--the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon! The 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon seen here will be unveiled in March at the Geneva Auto Show, but it's unlikely the handsome variant will sell stateside. Following in the footsteps of the Cruze sedan, which bowed in 2009, and the hatchback, which North America has yet to see, the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon will initially be powered by a 130-hp, 1.7-liter diesel 4-cylinder with active start/stop technology for impressive fuel economy. "The Cruze Station Wagon caters to an important market segment. It ticks all the boxes for European drivers in terms of distinctive design, dynamic driving, space and economy," said Chevrolet Europe President and Managing Director Susan Docherty.
Other known details include standard roof racks, and an impressive array of numbers. In this case, we know the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon will be 3.2-inches longer than the sedan, and it will have a cargo capacity of 17.7 cubic feet to an expandable 53.0 cubic feet with fold-flat seats. not bad, and handsome, too. Due to CAFE legislation, rising fuel costs, and a consumer demand for more fuel efficient cars, Chevy has confirmed that a diesel-powered Cruze will be sold in America, but it remains to be seen whether the Cruze Wagon will ever be an option. More details to follow, as they become available. In the meantime, what do you think? Could the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Wagon battle the reigning diesel-powered wagon champ, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI?
