2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline Package to Bow Again at Chicago
The 2013 North American International Auto Show was jam-packed with debuts from industry heavyweights like the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and 2015 Ford Atlas concept, so don't fret if you missed the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline. The good news is that if you did miss it, Dodge will once again parade the Challenger R/T Redline out for all to see at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show next week. If this Redline package sounds familiar, it sort of is. Last year, Dodge released a Redline appearance for Challengers outfitted with V-6 engines. Now, the V-8 engine stable is being shown a little love in the form of this Redline package. While this package implies speed, the majority of it actually consists of styling tweaks and a few new exterior colors. If you do opt for the Redline package on your Challenger R/T, you can pick from white, black, silver, and Granite Crystal. Black and red stripes run up the length of the car reminding you and everyone else that you have the Redline package. Other exterior tweaks consist of the front grille being the same color as the body and 22-inch black-chrome wheels with a red lip that runs around the perimeter of the rim. The 2013 Dodge Challenger Redline also features high-friction brakes, a lowered suspension, and an "R/T' badge on the front grille. Underneath the hood waits a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine and can be mated to your choice of a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Be aware though, if you do decide to go with the automatic gearbox, you lose three horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine when mated to the six-speed manual transmission serves up 375-hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. It's not all bad if you pick the automatic though, as the Mopar sports pedals and T-handle shifter are only available with that configuration. If you still want more power, then go with the Challenger R/T Plus Redline package. With it comes all of the aforementioned features and options but you also get heated mirrors and front seats, Nappa leather seats, a Boston Acoustics sound system, and arguably the most important feature for the big-bodied Challenger: rear parking sensors. Dealers are now taking orders for both the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline and Plus Redline packages. The 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T starts at $32,985 while the Challenger R/T Plus Redline goes for $34,985. The Redline package is an additional $1,995 with both vehicles outfitted in this package due on dealership lots in April. Source: Dodge
