2013 Porsche Boxster More Fuel Efficient, More Powerful, and Even Sexier

By Joel Arellano | January 12, 2012
First there was the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe, the first major redesign of the popular sports car in almost a decade. The 2012 Porsche Panamera GTS quickly followed at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show where it was promptly ignored by the Porsche faithful, who still consider it and the Cayenne SUV to be abominations despite their reinvigoration of the brand. The 2012 Porsche 911 cabriolet, or convertible to you Yanks, dropped its top in chilly November, just in time for holiday season. The 2013 Porsche Boxster now joins the rapidly refreshing fleet. Built off the all-new Porsche 911 chassis, the 2013 Boxster is longer and wider than its predecessor, offering even more legroom and space when off-track. The 2013 Porsche Boxster's lighter chassis and more efficient 2.7-liter and 3.4-liter engines improve fuel economy by up to 15 percent according to Porsche, while offering more horsepower at the same time. The 2.7-liter engine, for example, generates ten more ponies than the previous engine while the 3.4-liter flat-six engine allows the Porsche Boxster S to zip from zero to 60 mph in less than 4.8 seconds. The 2013 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S also features an all-new fully electric top. The 2013 Porsche Boxster continues to be offered in base model ($50,450) and the more powerful Boxster S edition ($61,850). Price includes destination, service, and handling fee. Both models come equipped with standard six-speed manual transmission with PDK seven-speed automatic available. Other optional features include a Sport Chrono packaging and the Porsche Torque Vectoring system (PTV) for an even more sports car experience. Check out video coverage of the all-new 2013 Porsche Boxster.

Automotive.com's take: Like. Think we can convince Porsche to thrown in its $900 pair of blue jeans? Source: Porsche
