Infotainment, from satellite radio to Bluetooth to smartphone interactivity, has become the latest battleground among automakers to attract consumers' attention and dollars. German automaker Volkswagen and satellite radio provider SiriusXM recently announced the availability of SiriusXM Traffic on certain 2013 VW models. SiriusXM Traffic provides real-time information such as traffic speeds, flow, and accidents. VW will provide a four-year subscription to the service on select 2013 VW vehicles equipped with a navigation system. Models include the Volkswagen CC, Eos, Passat (pictured), Tiguan, and Touareg. Certain models, such as the VW Touareg will also come with SiriusXM Travel Link, which provides travel information like weather conditions and even sports scores. Volkswagen will continue to offer a three-month subscription on its other 2013 vehicles and models as well as pre-owned and used vehicles.
"We are excited that Volkswagen sees the value of SiriusXM and is offering satellite radio and premium data services to their customers," Larry Pesce, Group Vice President and General Manager, Infotainment and Advanced Audio Services, SiriusXM, said in a statement. “Our unparalleled audio entertainment lineup as well as fuel prices, traffic data and weather will give Volkswagen drivers the ability to choose the perfect soundtrack for every road trip and plan how to get to their destinations safely and quickly.” Source: Volkswagen
