2014 BMW 4 Series Online Configurator Goes Live; Tops Out at $67,049

By Jacob Brown | July 09, 2013
Our favorite purveyor of sporty German cars that aren't Porsches, BMW, has priced out its 2014 4 Series coupe, starting at the low, low price of $41,425, including $925 for destination and handling, or $1,800 more than the outgoing 3 Series coupe that the 4 Series replaces. Put that another way, it's just under $4,000 more expensive than the four-door 2014 BMW 328i. But the 4 Series does come standard with the sport suspension that's $1,000 extra on the sedan. The 2014 BMW 4 Series is larger than the car it replaces  and has more technology in it like BMW's iDrive 4.2, an eight-speed automatic transmission, automatic start/stop, and even an available intelligent cruise control system that will automatically slow the car down or speed it up keep with the flow of traffic. We priced out the 2014 BMW 4 Series, seeing what all BMW has to offer in its latest car. After checking every box on a BMW 435i, which uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with 300 horsepower instead of the 428i's 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and loaded it up to an astonishing $67,049, which is well into BMW M3 territory, the revered 414-horsepower track monster that's still barely available new. In the 2014 BMW 4 Series, that kind of money lands things from BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive to Dakota leather seats to even an electronic rear sunshade--not that we're sure it's necessary in a car of this size.
