Cadillac has jumped on the electric vehicle bandwagon with the introduction of the 2014 Cadillac ELR. Set to go on sale in early 2014, this electrically powered vehicle has been priced at $75,000 before applicable tax credits. The new Cadillac ELR will offer an electric range of 300 miles and a top all-electric speed of around 100 mph, according to the automaker. The exterior of the ELR features LED lights with etched Cadillac script, a new grille design based off the iconic Cadillac grille, and a sleek design for better aerodynamics. Inside, the cabin is wrapped in semi-aniline leather, burled-grain wood and carbon fiber accents, which add to the feeling of luxury. The 2014 Cadillac ELR gets its power from an advanced electric drive propulsion system and backup gas-powered generator shared with the Chevrolet Volt. All it takes to charge this vehicle up is five hours with a 240-volt outlet, and you're good to go.
Just like with the 2014 BMW i3, the Cadillac ELR features a gas-powered range-extender generator to provide peace of mind to those who have some range anxiety. Priced significantly more than the BMW, the new Cadillac ELR delivers good performance and technology.
