It's hard to believe that the minivan is 30 years old, but the progenitor of pragmatism and solid piece of your Generation X or Y childhood has officially outlived music on MTV and is heading into its third decade with two new special editions.
The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan soldier on with their new 30th Anniversary Editions. Both are fairly subtle, but they carry on with some pleasant upgrades. The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition features polished aluminum 17-inch wheels with carbon satin pockets on them, black Alcantara seat inserts with Nappa leather bolsters, and piano black accents.
The 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition comes in SE and SXT trim levels and has body-colored mirrors, mirrors, 17-inch satin aluminum wheels, silver accent stitching, and piano black accents. SE models come with black cloth seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome trim, Bluetooth, and satellite radio.
The SXT will have chrome door moldings, a roof rack, fog lights, automatic headlights, black leatherette seats with suede inserts, and a 10-way power driver's seat. After having sold more than 13 million minivans since going on sale at the tail end of 1983, Chrysler continues serving families, delivery services and people who just want a lot of space.
