2014 Dodge Dart to Get SRT4 Endorsement

By Trevor Dorchies | February 01, 2012
The first model year of the Dodge Dart hasn't yet hit the showroom floor, but high-performance division SRT already has big plans for the 2014 model year. Sister publication Motor Trend reports that SRT will bestow its services upon the 2014 Dodge Dart, resurrecting the "SRT4" badge from the great beyond. What does this mean for the Dart? Since you asked we expect an altered version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform to utilize an improved dual-clutch, six-speed transmission mated to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The last generation Caliber SRT4 used a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine responsible for 285 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. We expect an all -aluminum, direct-inject engine to pump out 300 horsepower and compete against the Ford Focus ST, which is expected to hit the streets later this summer. As for chassis and dynamics tweaks, the 2014 Dodge Dart will receive the same treatment that Chrysler and Dodge's SRT trimmed vehicles get. We expect an arsenal of functional scoops and vents, razor-sharp handling, and a much more aggressive rear spoiler. Tie that all together with bigger wheels and better rubber and you're looking at a price tag hovering just around $30,000, a lot for a compact, but competitive for its class. With the addition of the SRT4 to the Dodge Dart are you more likely to purchase one? Tell us what you think in the comment section below. Source: Motor Trend

I owned one of the Neon Srt4's and loved it. I can't wait to see the new 4 when it hits showrooms, but the only way I'd even consider it is if it came with a traditional manual trans... The dual clutch flappy paddle gear boxes are for people that can't drive a real stick.

Recently purchased the 13 dart limited. Love it!! Curious about a trade up, when the 2014 hits the ground. I will be doing plenty of research till' then. Keep those bad boys coming. I have a feeling they are gonna make quite an impact on the compact class for years to come. I know I'm very impressed all around with the vehicle. Nice work.
