2014 Hyundai Tucson Gets Refreshed with New Engines, Features
The 2014 Hyundai Tucson has been refreshed, and features a new 2.0-liter engine that the automaker says will make its way onto other 2014 Hyundai models. The automaker's compact crossover also receives a few comfort features, and optional premium equipment. The 2014 Tucson's new entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is capable of 164 hp, and utilizes direct injection technology, that optimizes performance and efficiency. Hyundai has said the engine will be powering other 2014 models as well, and while it's likely too large for the Hyundai Accent, it may see action in the 2014 Hyundai Elantra and 2014 Hyundai Veloster models. In the Hyundai Tucson, the new engine has received EPA fuel economy estimates of 23 mpg city and 29 mpg on the highway for standard front-wheel drive models, while all-wheel drive models will get 21/25 mpg city/hwy. Hyundai is also making its all-wheel-drive system available on entry-level models this year. The 2014 Hyundai Tucson will also offer a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, capable of 182 hp, more than similar engines on the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue; the Honda CR-V gets 185 hp from its 2.4-liter engine. All 2014 Hyundai Tucson models use a six-speed automatic transmission, with manual shift control option. Tucson models also feature Hyundai's Active Eco system, which when applied will dial back performance in exchange for a five to seven percent increase in real-world fuel economy. The 2014 Tucson also receives new headlights with LED accents and available wraparound LED taillights. 17-inch wheels are now standard, with new 18-inch wheels offered as an option. And while the Hyundai Tucson will have a 4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen audio with rearview camera, the very attractive seven-inch media screen will also be available. Another new feature that rear-passengers will appreciate, is the ability to recline the rear seats for additional comfort. Source: Hyundai
