2014 Kia Sportage Adds Features, Increases Price in Mid-Cycle Update

By Jacob Brown | December 09, 2013
The 2014 Kia Sportage is among the best-looking vehicles in the compact crossover class, but when we drove a 2013 version, we were underwhelmed by its brittle ride. Now, it seems, Kia has addressed its suspension issues and added plenty new features in the new model year model's debut. Now starting at $22,450, including $850 for destination and handling, that represents a substantial $2,650 price increase from the previous model year. Included in that are a host of refreshed styling elements, including the grille, and a more efficient direct-injected 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that has a modest six-horsepower bump to 182, HID headlights, improved ride and noise control, rear vents, Infinity premium audio system, UVO with eServices, a new 4.2-inch instrument display when paired with the navigation, and available ventilation on the passenger front seat. All-wheel drive is a $1,500 option on all models. Uplevel Sportage SX models come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a most pleasant 260 horsepower. Outside of options levels, individual packages are limited but include floor mats ($115), a panoramic sunroof for the Sportage SX ($1,500), a premium package ($2,900) for the SX that includes a navigation system and leather, and a premium package for the lower-level Sportage EX that throws in those features as well as the panoramic sunroof.
