2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Officially Revealed Ahead of Auto Show Season

By Jacob Brown | October 23, 2013
After a grainy photo of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan surfaced earlier this week, we figured it'd only be a matter of time before we got some clearer images of the new luxury sedan. As luck would have it, we were right, and now Hyundai is giving us a better look at the new sedan with its first official renderings. Paragraphimage Called the "DH" internally--the current model is the BH--the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan sports a decidedly more aggressive look than its predecessor, inspired by the Hyundai HCD-14 concept car that debuted at January's Detroit Auto Show. Obviously, it's not as chunky, as its lines have been stretched and lowered. Some in the office liked the concept version; I found it hideous. This car strikes a much better balance. We still don't know about what we should expect under the hood. Powering the current car is a 3.8-liter V-6 with 333 horsepower or a 5.0-liter V-8 with 429 horsepower. Hooked to either of those is an eight-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear wheels. Expect both engines to up their ante in the 2015 model along with an oft-rumored 10-speed automatic transmission to make its debut. Hyundai has also confirmed that the Genesis will optionally make use of the company's new HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. Expect similar systems to eventually trickle up the the larger Hyundai Equus. Otherwise, details are still sparse. We've played with its infotainment system at January's Consumer Electronics Show, but word is still mum on much of anything else inside the car. As the Seoul Motor Show is in April of next year, we expect the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan to make its debut well ahead of then, most likely at next month's Los Angeles Auto Show. Expect to see more details as they become available before then. Source: Hyundai
