Aston Martin V12 Zagato Enters Production In All Of Its Sexiness

It's a general rule of thumb that any new Aston Martin causes a spate of heart palpitations, shaky hands, and a sudden need for replenished saliva. And with this red number shown above, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato adheres to the rule pretty nicely. The V12 Zagato was announced in concept car form last year, but now it's going to enter production with Aston Martin's typically limited numbers. Just 150 will enter this world, kicking and snarling, and most of them will head straight for the nearest race track. For the entire concept, based around the Vantage, was designed as an endurance racer—witness such niceties as a 120-liter fuel tank, carbon fiber construction as on the even more exclusive One-77, the Zagato-signature double-bubble roof, the 6.0-liter V12 engine with 510 horsepower, and its completion of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring endurance race, back when there were only two examples to throw around. Yikes. Now you can race your Zagato (doesn't that sound so much cooler than saying "I race a Miata?" Sorry, Miata drivers) at the tune of the low, low price of £522,000, before taxes and—presumably—a $850 destination charge (just over $800,000 USD). Deliveries start at the end of this year, hopefully in time for the next Pebble Beach concours.
