Asus Lamborghini, Ferrari One Laptops - Details

By Automotive Staff | April 11, 2011
Taiwanese computer maker Asus recently unveiled an updated version of its Lamborghini VX7, an orange- or black-painted laptop inspired by the eponymous company’s Gallardo and Reventon supercars. Along with signature Lamborghini hood creases on the top, the VX7 bears leather wrist pads, fan vents inspired by exhaust tips and, yes, “taillights” that look just like those on your Murciélago. Key specifications include an Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16 gigabytes of RAM, and hard drives with space for up to 750 gigabytes of Lamborghini photos. It may tout a 15.6-inch screen, but thanks to aluminum construction, the VX7 weighs in at a svelte 8.4 pounds. Hailing from Modena’s expansive range of merchandise is another take on exotic laptops, the Acer-built Ferrari One. It has a red cover featuring the legendary prancing horse emblem and red accents around its ventilation ports. Each laptop comes pre-installed with a Ferrari screensaver, desktop wallpaper, and 18-month calendar, and if that’s not enough, pressing the F10 key takes users directly to Ferrari’s website. The Ferrari One is more compact and less powerful than the Asus, with an 11.6-inch screen, AMD Athlon X2 processor, two gigabytes of RAM, a 250-gigabyte hard drive, and a Dolby Pro Logic surround-sound system for optimal listening to Formula 1 podcasts. To top it all off, each laptop comes with a valve that was actually used in a Formula 1 racing engine. Though not quite as pricey as the cars that inspired them, these laptops cost a pretty penny. Ferrari wants the strangely precise sum of $1161.88 (plus shipping and taxes) for its laptop, and the Asus Lamborghini model will set you back $2269. Ouch! The prices and specifications of each laptop are quite different, but we expect most buyers will make the decision based on which brand of car is already parked at home in their garage. via Ferrari, Asus courtesy of Automobile Magazine Staff
