Audi Recalling A6 Over Airbag Concerns

By Trevor Dorchies | December 15, 2011
Audi is recalling certain 2012 Audi A6 models to sort out defective side curtain airbags. Vehicles assembled from April 8 through May 26, 2011 are believed to contain airbags with seems that may not be stitched properly. This is problematic because the head curtain airbag may not deploy and be able to properly protect the occupant. This, of course, increases the risk of injury greatly. Volkswagen, Audi's corporate parent, will notify customers in possession of the affected Audi A6's, with the recall expected to begin in January of 2012. Dealerships will replace the left, right, or both curtain airbags free of charge. Concerned owners may contact Volkswagen at (800)-822-8987 or the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's safety hotline at (800)-424-9153. Source: NHTSA
