Bad Fuse Forces Recall of 119,072 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300s

Chrysler, who has been enjoying a fast start that's come along with 2012, has issued a voluntary recall of 119,072 Charger and 300 sedans. The vehicles in question were produced prior to December 20, 2011 and affect some 2011 and 2012 model year sedans. The root of the issue can be pinpointed to a plastic insert that surrounds the fuse responsible for both the antilock braking system and electronic stability control systems. The fuse may become distorted courtesy of thermal expansion and contraction, and both the ABS and ESC systems will not function. A light will illuminate on the instrument cluster to alert the driver of such an issue but basic brake function will still be available. Chrysler is not aware of any accidents or fatalities that could be attributed to this recall. No timetable for the recall has been announced but Chrysler said it will contact owners of affected vehicles. As always, stay tuned as more details unfold.
