Behind the Wheel: 2013 Dodge Charger R/T All-Wheel Drive
Muscle cars aren't very family friendly, and most family cars aren't very muscular. Think about it. Most muscle cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro can't even seat more than two people in their rear seats, and their trunks are notoriously small. Even the larger Dodge Challenger's three-across rear bench is tough to get in and out of. On the other hand, most family cars are a drag to drive, even the "sport" versions. With four-cylinder or V-6 engines, they aren't very quick, and their handling veers more toward safety and comfort than anything a former muscle-car driving bad-boy would want. But the 2013 Dodge Charger R/T we recently drove could be the happy middle ground we've been searching for. With a powerful V-8 engine, aggressive styling, and surprisingly good handling for such a heavy car, the big Dodge certainly feels like a sporty musclecar. But with ample seating for five, a roomy trunk, sure-footed all-wheel drive, and airbags aplenty, it's as family-friendly as a Toyota Camry. It also had a rockin' stereo, excellent navigation system, and all the other amenities you'd expect from a modern car. In fact, it even had one of our editors wondering if he'd be able to swing the monthly payment. So what's so great? Check out our 2013 Dodge Charger R/T AWD Road Test to find out.
