Behind the Wheel: 2013 Fiat 500c Abarth
Imagine that you've landed a job with Chrysler Group as a product planner or engineer. Your first task on the job is to help improve upon the Fiat 500 Abarth, which has already to help reshaped the Italian brand after it received a less-than-warm welcome back to North America only a few short years ago. You're sitting in a product meeting with all the suits and bean counters and then, just like that, it hits you. You blurt out "We'll make it a convertible!" And before you can grab the words to stuff them back down your throat, people begin to nod, and a calm murmur of agreement fills the room. You quietly sit back down in your chair, wipe the sweat off your brow, and feverishly begin sketching out this new "Abarth convertible." We're not saying that was how the 2013 Fiat 500c Abarth was conceived, but it makes sense. How could Fiat improve upon its "small but wicked" 500 in a way that hasn't already been done with the first model that was just introduced last year? It's simple, really. Give the Fiat 500 Abarth a convertible option so customers can completely immerse themselves in the unmistakable exhaust note instead of hearing it from behind some sheetmetal and glass.
