Breaking: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Dash Revealed in New Spy Shots
Hot on the heels of the official 2014 Chevrolet Corvette badge reveal this morning, we're getting our first glimpse at the new car's uncovered dash. And we do mean glimpse. These admittedly blurry long-distance spy shots reveal a dash that looks significantly improved from what the current car offers. Looking from the driver's side, we can see an air vent with a metallic ring, a dash that sweeps into the door panel, and what looks like a large door-mounted speaker, hinting at an up-level audio system. While we can't see the gauges themselves, we can see bits and pieces of the area immediately in front of the driver, and from what we can see, metallic trim dominates the theme. From the passenger side, it's clear that the dash will be covered with contrast-stitched material, we assume leather. This bodes well for the new car. One area of constant complaint about the Corvette has been its lowball interior. The current car offers an upgrade package that covers the dash in leather, and while it definitely improves things, you're still stuck with lots of hard, cheap plastic, thin and wobbly seats, and numerous other shortcuts that reek of old-GM cents-before-sense cost cutting. GM has rediscovered premium interior materials in recent years, and other spy shots indicate that Chevrolet may have gotten the message with its sports car, too. We're just hoping that for once, the Corvette will have an interior drivers will love, instead of merely tolerate.
