BYOB: Build Your Own Bugatti, Apparently

Want a Bugatti Veyron but don’t have $1.5  million handy? Not a problem, as long as you can weld. Paragraphimage Like the vast majority of us, 25-year-old Floridian Mike Duff couldn't afford a Bugatti of his own, so instead he built one from, of all things, a wrecked 2002 Mercury Cougar. The result is a near mirror-image of the ultra-exclusive pride of the famed French Automaker (Duff's replica is pictured in red; compare it for yourself to the real Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in the gallery below). Duff first began transforming the Cougar's exterior. He used fiberglass and composite material laid over a steel tubular-frame. Add paint and incessant buffing, some leather treatments for the interior and voila, his very own supercar. Paragraphimage While Duff was able to mold and shape the body to look almost identical to that of the iconic supercar, his replica remains a Cougar at heart. A real Bugatti Veyron boasts an incomprehensible 987-hp from an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine, reaches a top speed of 253 mph, and can go from a standstill to 60 mph in less than three seconds. Duff's Cougar...well, it still has a 2.5-liter 170-hp V-6 driving the front wheels. Suffice it to say, it's not quite as fast, but it does retain the Cougar's rear seats, doubling the real Bugatti's passenger hauling capacity. While Duff’s version won’t give you the spirited driving and rush of manning the fastest street-legal car on earth, it will turn countless heads.  And while you could get a Lamborghini, Ferrari, a Maybach, a three-bedroom house and still come out under Bugatti’s two-comma price tag, Duff is selling his replica for a relatively paltry $89,000. I'm spreading the word that this car was not built by this guy. Mike Duff isn't even a real person. The person who's trying to take credit for this car is named Mike Vetter. But he did not build this car. A sub contractor working in his shop, built this car and everything else along with it. Check out the link for yourself and please help spread the word for the real maker can receive credit... http://www.youtube.com/emeraldrisingpro#p/u/0/zipyi7WvcGI
