Caught: 2015 Hyundai Genesis Spy Shots

By Matthew Askari | February 20, 2013
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis won't go on sale here in the U.S. until early next year, but that doesn't mean you have to wait to see what it'll look like. These recent spy shots caught the luxury sedan out and about, and give us a very good indication of the car we'll be testing later in the year.
Aesthetically, the 2015 Genesis sedan will sport new LED headlights and taillights, which can be clearly seen peeking through the camouflage. Former Audi designer Peter Schreyer may have played a role in the "jewel-like" treatment, one that we've loved on Audi's cars for a while now. The rear taillights also look extremely similar to the ones on the HCD-14 Concept Hyundai showed off at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit. The new Genesis appears to be sleeker, and sports Hyundai's hexagonal grille, consistent with we've seen on its latest debuts.
The rear-wheel-drive 2015 Hyundai Genesis is expected to be greatly improved dynamically, and is likely to carry on its current powertrain options. A 3.8-liter V-6, capable of 333 horsepower, and the larger, very good 5.0-liter V-8—capable of 429 horsepower—will likely be offered on the R-spec trim. While it's likely these engines would be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, there's been a rumor that we could see a 10-speed automatic. We'll know more as we get closer to launch.
