Chevrolet to Display Sonic Dusk Package at SEMA, Enter Production Soon After
Chevrolet announced this morning that it will begin producing the Sonic Dusk sedan, a more sophisticated version of the one already on sale. Before this refined trim level enters production though, it will be paraded out at the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association's annual convention--known as the SEMA show--which starts next Tuesday in Las Vegas. The Chevrolet Sonic Dusk that will be on display at SEMA will be as close to production ready as possible, and will include features like ground effects, 18-inch aluminum wheels with a Pearl Nickel finish, and a rear spoiler. Other styling features include the upper and lower grille, door handle inserts, and rear license plate frame all being finished in a matte black paint. Stainless steel moldings snake around each window giving the Sonic a more refined look. The remaining exterior styling cues remain unchanged, unlike many other vehicles that show up at SEMA. However, the Sonic Dusk trim level isn't the first feature to enter the mass production and Chevy seeks to cover a wider range of customers than the Sonic already covers. Inside, black leather-trimmed seats with suede accents and tan inserts greet you. The same tan color lends itself to the seat stitching and door panel inserts as well. Chevy's MyLink infotainment system, which is capable of playing Bluetooth audio and includes a USB plug-in, will also be in the Sonic. Underneath the hood is Chevy's Ecotec 1.4-liter turbocharged engine rated at 138 horsepower; the SEMA variant is mated to a six-speed automatic. The production model will give you the choice between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The Sonic sits above the Spark, which just recently joined the Bow Tie's portfolio, and the Cruze. Besides the Dusk trim level, the performance-inspired Sonic RS is slated to hit dealership showrooms later this year. Source: General Motors
