2013 Chicago Auto Show: 2013 Nissan Juke NISMO and 2014 370Z NISMO Make Official Debut

By Trevor Dorchies | February 08, 2013
Nissan pulled the wraps off of two separate vehicles today at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. The 2013 Nissan Juke NISMO and 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO officially debuted today, kicking off performance variants of each model. You may remember the Franken-Juke that sister publication Motor Trend got their hands on, and while the Juke NISMO isn't as potent, it still delivers on the power and aggressive exterior styling.  NISMO, or Nissan Motorsports, has been planning to expand its lineup for a little while now, and the Juke NISMO is proof positive of that. If you're not familiar with Nissan NISMO vehicles, here's a quick refresher: NISMO is the equivalent to Ford's Special Vehicle Team (aka "SVT"), which most recently created the Ford Raptor. Nissan plans to expand the NISMO nameplate to a slew of vehicles in its lineup. Nissan didn't disclose what other vehicles will get the performance treatment, but you can bet on features like bigger brakes, steering arms, and a tuned suspension. These features are on display with the 2013 Nissan Juke NISMO, which gets a little more power from its usual turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. With NISMO, the Juke's engine sees horsepower jump up to 197, up from 188 ponies. Like it's non-NISMO sibling, the Juke NISMO is available in front- or all-wheel drive and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The front-wheel drive model gets the manual gearbox while the all-wheel drive variant is paired with the CVT. Paragraphimage Exterior styling tweaks on the 2013 Nissan Juke NISMO include a custom front- and rear end, red stripes on the bumpers, LED lights, a NISMO spoiler, badging, and seats. Other stylistic traits include fender flairs, a mesh grille, smoked out headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Juke NISMO wasn't the only Nissan bowing in Chicago though. The 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO also made its official debut in the windy city and features similar stylic traits and also got a bump in power. A 3.7-liter V-6 engine rated at 350 horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual transmission powers the 370Z NISMO. Underneath the sheet metal, a tuned suspension and stiffer stabilizer bars give the 370Z NISMO better handling. NISMO-oriented sport brakes bring the 19-inch alloy wheels to a halt, too.
