Chrysler Recalls 2013 Fiat 500e
Earlier this week Chrysler Group LLC announced that it will recall about 270 2013 Fiat 500e battery-electric vehicles to replace half shaft bolts, which transfer torque from the gearbox to the wheels. This issue doesn't involve the 500e's electric powertrain. The investigation began after Chrysler Group was notified of a vehicle with power loss, where engineers discovered that two steps in the assembly of the vehicle had not been completed correctly. Without the proper steps taken in the building of the vehicle, the half shaft could separate. Luckily, Chrysler has not been informed of any accidents or injuries pertaining to this issue. All owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Chrysler Group and dealers will repair all issues at no cost to the owner. Chrysler will also be providing free rental cars for the duration of the repairs. Since there are affected vehicles currently in dealer lots, Chrysler Group is waiting for a final number for affected vehicles before advising the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
