Damaged Fuel Tank Valve Responsible for Jeep Compass, Patriot Recall

Chrysler has issued a recall on its model year 2012 Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot crossovers. The issue is the Jeep Patriot and Compass' fuel tank. Those Jeep vehicles built between December 17, 2011 through January 2nd, 2012 may have a damage roll-over valve. According the NHTSA, there's an increased chance of a fire if the 2012 Jeep Compass or Patriot is involved in an accident like a crash or rollover. The NHTSA nor Chrysler have reported accidents, injuries, or fatalities involving the issue. 1,689 model year 2012 Jeep Patriot and Compass crossovers may be affected by the issue. Chrysler will start notifying owners starting in June. Owners will be asked to bring their Jeep Patriot and Compass to the dealership where technicians will examine the fuel tank assembly and, if necessary, replacing it free of charge.
