Dodge Expands Blacktop Edition to Include Avenger, Challenger R/T, and Charger R/T

After the initial success that the 2012 Dodge Charger Blacktop edition brought, Dodge has announced it has expanded the special edition trim to the Avenger, Challenger R/T, and the Charger R/T. The Blacktop edition package features unique, larger, dark wheels; a split-crosshair grille dipped in gloss black paint; headlights with darkened headlight bezels, and a body-color rear spoiler. The original Dodge Charger Blacktop edition, based on the V-6 model, got the ball rolling for the expansion of this trim package to the Avenger, Challenger R/T, and now the Charger R/T. For 2013, the Charger will be available with the Blacktop package on the SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, or R/T Plus. The Blacktop edition brings the Hemi V-8 engine rated at 370 horsepower on the R/T and R/T Plus models while the SXT and SXT Plus receive the 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine rated at 300 hp. The Charger R/T Blacktop edition includes 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, a gloss black grille, body-color rear spoiler, paddle shifters, a Sport mode, and a Beats audio system that includes 10 speakers, a subwoofer, and a 552-watt amp. The base price for a Charger R/T starts at $29,995 and the Blacktop edition is an additional $1,795. If you opt for the Charger R/T and the Hemi V-8 engine, you'll also get bigger performance disc brakes, dual exhaust, and Uconnect's 8.4-inch touchscreen. A five-speed automatic transmission with four-cylinder mode Fuel Saver Technology is also standard. The Charger R/T Plus offers additional styling cues, interior tweaks, and technology including Nappa leather seats, heated seats in both the front and rear row, heated and cooled cupholders, an alarm, and LED lights for the overhead lighting and footwells.
The Dodge Avenger Blacktop package is based upon 2013 Avenger SXT model and includes standard features like 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, and also gets the gloss black front grille and darkened headlight bezel treatment. Other standard features on the 2013 Dodge Avenger Blacktop package include a six-speed automatic transmission, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, automatic headlights, fog lights, six speakers, Sirius XM radio, exterior color side mirrors, an Electric Vehicle Information Center, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and six airbags lining the interior. You can also opt for a leather appointed interior and heated front seats for an additional $400 on top of the $18,995 needed to get the Avenger itself.
As an option underneath the hood, the 2013 Dodge Avenger Blacktop package features the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine which is rated at 283 hp. Other optional features include a power sunroof, premium audio system, a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. Finally, the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop edition starts at $29,995 and includes standard features like 20-inch aluminum wheels with gloss black center caps, a gloss black grille surround and fuel door, and a matte graphite body stripe accented by red edging. Other standard features include the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine rated at 375 hp and mated to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Performance oriented suspension, disc brakes, and steering are also included. Inside, standard features include Uconnect with voice commands, Bluetooth, a USB port, an auxiliary input, and Sirius XM radio. Standard exterior styling features include automatic headlights, fog lights, an R/T badge on the grille, a Hemi badge for the hood, and a body-color rear air spoiler. The R/T Plus trim offers Nappa leather seating, heated front seats, a Boston Acoustics sound system with six speakers, and a 276 Watt amp. Power heated mirrors, ParkSense rear park assist, EVIC, a tire pressure monitoring system, a compass, an alarm, and HomeLink. If you decide to go with the five-speed automatic gearbox, a remote starter is included as part of the R/T Plus package. If you opt for the Super Track Pak, you'll get a performance oriented steering gear, brake linings, monotube shock absorbers, and P245/45R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car three season tires.
