Etherea Concept Heralds Future Nissan Infiniti Design

Etherea is about a new type of luxury for younger buyers,” Toru Saito, corporate vice president and leader of the Global Infiniti Business Unit, said in statement. “It is not just a smaller version of a typically conservative and traditional luxury car.” The Etherea concept --part coupe, sedan, hatchback, and crossover -- is scheduled to debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Infiniti states several design cues from the concept are bound for future production models. The Etherea measures in at roughly 173 inches in length, making it a small car by contemporary standards. The car’s C-pillar was lifted from the previous Essence concept car and Infiniti says the vehicle will also showcase new interpretations of Japanese materials and finishes that will be found on future Infiniti product. It is widely reported that the production vehicle to come from the Etherea concept will be the first to feature a Mercedes-Benz engine, as a result of the partnership Nissan-Renault has formed with Daimler. We’re also told the production car will be performance-oriented, taking the form of a two-door coupe and using the same chassis as the next-generation Renault Megane and Nissan Tilda.
