Exotic Car Recalls: Bentley Continental GT; Lamborghini Gallardo, Murcielago

By | October 30, 2013
Yes, even the most incredible supercars in the world are fallible. Recalls have recently been announced for certain Bentley Continental models and Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago cars because faulty screws that secure the brake rotors may fail. The recalls affect 2007-2011 Bentley Continental GT, GTC, and Flying Spur models as well as 2007-2009 Lamborghini Gallardo coupes and roadsters and Murcielago coupes and roadsters from the 2006-2010 model years. All models are equipped with carbon ceramic brake discs. In these vehicles, the stainless steel screws "may fail after being exposed to salty conditions," according to recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "Failure of the securing screws may result in a reduction of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash," the NHTSA said. In all of the recalls, Bentley and Lamborghini promise to replace the problematic screws free of charge to owners. The campaigns are slated to begin in November. Bentley owners can contact (800) 777-6923 and Lamborghini owners can call (866) 681-6276 for more information. Visit www.safercar.gov for more information on all recalls in the U.S. Source: NHTSA
