Hyundai's new generation i30 wagon will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, but we've got a good glimpse ahead of its unveiling. If the i30's face looks familiar, it's because on this side of the Atlantic we call the same car the Elantra. Frankfurt is a very appropriate venue as the car is Hyundai's best seller in the European market. The new generation features more harmonious styling with the automaker's "fluidic sculpture" design. Hyundai's Global Presence reflected in the i30 The original i30 was the first Hyundai to be designed and engineered in Europe at the company's manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic. It was also Hyundai's first car to receive five stars from Euro NCAP, o r the "European New Car Assessment Programme." Perhaps most significantly for the Korean automaker, the i30 sold 115,000 units in 2010, making it Hyundai's best seller on the continent.
Upon release of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra here in the U.S., the automaker promised a touring version based on the i30. It appears this will be that car, though what's not clear is what changes may be made for the U.S. version. Source: Hyundai
