Ford and PlugShare Team Up
Thanks to PlugShare.com, Ford's award-winning smartphone app and Web portal MyFord Moble now features a charging station finder that will be compatible with new Ford Fusion Energi and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids. Along with its lists of publicly available stations, PlugShare incorporated information gathered from users to provide the best dataset available. "We're now expanding availability of the system to drivers of our new plug-in hybrids and offering some unique features specifically tailored to these long-range vehicles," said Bill Frykman, business and product development manager. Both the C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi have an EPA estimated 620 miles on one tank of gas and one charge, with 21 miles of pure electric driving range per charge. Now, owners can monitor and manage the battery charging process from their smartphones from almost any location, along with checking energy efficiency and locating charging stations. Thanks to PlugShare, the MyFord Mobile app now enables users to search terms like "pizza" near a specified location and the app will also display the nearest available charging station for each entry. "This collaboration allows for Ford customers to access all the currently installed stations, as well as gain immediate access to new charge stations as they are installed," commented Mike Tinskey, director, Vehicle Electrification and Infrastructure. The MyFord Mobile application is available for all smartphones and is available in the Apple iOS App Store and Google Play Store for iPhones and Android phones, respectively. Source: Ford
