GM CEO, Habitat for Humanity Ride 1958 Chevy Corvette to Auction

Will a car CEO auctioning his antique car convince you, the average car buyer, to buy his new cars? General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson announced yesterday his plans to put his 1958 Chevrolet Corvette on the auction block. Proceeds from the Chevy Corvette auction will go to Habitat for Humanity Detroit. The Akersons have already donated a million of their own funds to the non-profit organization, which is focused on uplifting Detroit's Morningside Commons neighborhood. Habitat's response is, of course, appreciative. Says Vincent Tilford, executive director for Habitat for Humanity, Detroit branch, "We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and leadership of Dan and Karin Akerson and the entire General Motors team."

GM has not yet released auction information like starting bids, but the Chevy Corvette will be available this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise for potential bidders to view.
