It's nice see Buick come out with another winner! Good not great gas milage and a turbo should win some on the younger buyer their way. I t would be nice to see Buick come out with a muscle car (say the Grand National) to replace Pontiac's dominance in that department.
GM Prices 2012 Buick Regal eAssist Hybrid, Sporty GS
Car shoppers looking for either fuel-efficient sedans or sporty ones now have two new options. Buick doubled its entry-level Regal lineup for the 2012 model year by adding the fuel-efficient 2012 Buick Regal with eAssist and the turbocharged 2012 Buick Regal GS. General Motors aims the 2012 Buick Regal to buyers looking primarily for fuel economy in their premium or luxury vehicles. The sedan's 2.4-liter engine and six-speed automatic transmission is mated to an electric motor and generator that electrically assists (hence the name) the Regal to achieve an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city / 36 mpg highway. Prices for the 2012 Buick Regal with eAssist starts at $29,530, including the $860 destination fees. The 2012 Buick Regal GS, on the other hand, aims for those looking for excitement on the road. The sedan's 2.0-liter engine generates up to 270 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the 2012 Buick Regal GS, though an automatic option will be available later this year. The 2012 Buick Regal GS comes standard with Interactive Drive Control System which allows owners to optimize the car's responses to match their own driving habits. Prices for the 2012 Buick Regal GS begins at $35,310, including the $860 destination fee. Prices for the base 2012 Buick Regal and Buick Regal Turbo have not been released at the time of this post. Buick reconfigured the base 2012 Buick Regal to run on ethanol (E85) as well as regular fuel. Buick's eAssist is also available on the base 2012 Buick Regal as a $2,000 option. Additionally, Buick plans to roll out its Buick IntelliLink infotainment system as a standard feature later this year. Our take? General Motors has the 2012 Buick Regal eAssist taking aim at the Lexus HS hybrid and Lincoln MKZ hybrid, while the 2012 Buick Regal GS rumbles against the Acura TSX and Audi A4. While GM has checked off the right features in both categories—especially among the premium hybrids—we're not too sure Buick's ready among the sporty crowd, especially against the A4.
