Honda Recalls Pilot for Seatbelt Problems

By Blake Z. Rong | September 09, 2011
Honda is voluntarily recalling more than 300,000 Honda Pilots to replace the driver’s and passenger’s front seatbelts. At issue is a manufacturing defect that can cause the seatbelts to unravel in a crash. The 310,773 Pilots affected by the recall are all from the current generation, manufactured from 2009 through 2011. A defect in manufacturing process left a few sets of seat belts with inadequate or even missing stitching at a critical anchor for the belt. Fundamentally weakened, the belt could rip apart in a crash. Honda says that no injuries or deaths have been reported. Honda will begin notifying customers in the beginning of October, 2011. However, if you want more information now, contact Honda's customer service line at (800) 999-1009 and select option 4, or go to Honda's recall website.
