Hyundai i30's First Rendering Revealed

By Sam Grossman | August 10, 2011
The Hyundai Elantra sedan made its debut in the U.S. this year, but its wagon version, the Elantra Touring, is a grizzled veteran at this point. The Elantra Touring will soon be all-new as well, as Hyundai recently announced a redesign of wagon version of the i30, the Elantra's European  counterpart. Today we are finally able to catch a glimpse of the next-generation i30, as Hyundai released its first rendering today; a small sample of what to expect when the hatchback makes its debut at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in September. Designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center in Russelsheim, Germany, the i30 is a clear representation of Hyundai's 'fluidic sculpture' design. "When designing the new i30, we used strong, fluid lines to sculpt a car which looks athletic while exuding a sense of constant motion, even when stationary," said Thomas Burkle, Chief Designer, Hyundai Motor Europe. "From the rendering, you can see how we managed to give the car a bold stance, transmitting a confident attitude through sporty characteristics and dynamic proportions." Hyundai hopes the i30 will help develop the brand, as well as strengthen the vehicles already strong sales reputation. "We expect this next-generation i30 to play a significant role in developing our brand image in Europe and strengthen the vehicle's position as our best-seller in Europe," said Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe.
