Hyundai issues Recall on 2011 Sonata to Steer it Back on Course

By Automotive Staff | September 28, 2010
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating steering equipment on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata that may have been installed incorrectly and could cause a loss of steering ability. Just under a month ago, we reported that the NHTSA was investigating whether the universal joint on the steering shaft could come loose or separate altogether. The NHTSA recall will examine the tightness of the joints for fit and finish as well as functionality. Hyundai reportedly will update the power steering software at no charge, and will inspect the existing steering equipment. The recall is expected to begin in October.
