Recall Alert: Hyundai Sonata, Azera Recall Affects 240,000
Hyundai is recalling approximately 215,000 2006-2010 Sonata midsize sedan models, and 24,000 of the newer, Azera sedan models. The Issue Hyundai says the recall only affects cold-weather states, and the recall has to do with corrosion from road salt. The underside can corrode to a point that affects rear wheel alignment, which will affect driving and handling of the vehicle. The Fix Owners can take vehicles to dealers for inspection. If corrosion is found, Hyundai dealers will replace the faulty parts with new ones, and apply rust-proofing. If the parts are not corroded, dealers will still apply the rust-proofing as a precaution. Hyundai says owners in the Northeast and Midwest, the "salt belt" states, are affected by the recall. Hyundai says no related accidents or injuries are known as a cause of the issue. Hyundai also issued a recent recall for the 2013 Santa Fe Sport, for an issue related to the front axle. The front axle shaft is susceptible to cracking, which could potentially cause a separation. Dealers will replace the axle shaft at no cost to owners. Source: Reuters
