Jeep Cherokee SRT Version Planned?
The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee has ushered in a lot of conversation about its polarizing looks, but a new aggressive Cherokee SRT model may only add to the conversation. According to Allpar, a performance version of the Jeep Cherokee is planned, and the big question will be what will be powering it.SRT models generally add muscle under the hood to go along with suspension tuning and other tweaks, and a new 3.0-liter Pentastar turbocharged V-6 engine could be powering the Jeep Cherokee SRT, according to the Chrysler fan-site. It's not known whether or not the engine would employ a single or twin-turbo, but it's estimated to deliver impressive power, somewhere between 375-410 hp. Another less likely option is tasking Maserati's 3.0-liter twin-turbo, but that may be too pricey for the Jeep Cherokee SRT. Regardless of which engine it gets, it will be aesthetically enhanced to show off its new performance prowess. The pinched bar grille will likely get a black chrome or new metallic finish, and unique wheels would complement an SRT body kit. The Jeep Cherokee is currently in production, with front-wheel drive deliveries planned in dealerships first, and the all-wheel-drive version to follow. The Jeep Cherokee SRT could possibly debut sometime next year as a 2015 model. Source: Allpar
