Mazda Recalls Select Mazda6 Models for Loose Door Latches
Mazda has recently announced a recall for select 2009-2013 Mazda6 models with a manufacturing date between February 4, 2008 and August 24, 2012. The door latch mounting screws may not have been fully tightened, and may come loose. In the event that these screws did become loosened, the door latch may not engage properly--or at all--increasing the likelihood of an accident and injuries. Also, the door may open while the vehicle is moving, furthering these risks. Mazda will notify owners of the recall that is expected to begin on October 18. Dealers will fix all affected vehicles by applying a thread-locking adhesive to the door screws and retorque them at no cost to the owners. Owners can contact the automaker directly by phone at (800) 222-5500 with the recall number 7013I. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is also available for contact by phone at (888) 327-4236, or online at www.safercar.gov Source: NHTSA
