Mercedes-Benz, AMG Turns Golden at Cannes Film Festival

Leave it to Mercedes-Benz to do both charity work and ferry service in style. The Palme d'Or, or Golden Palm, is the highest honor bestowed at the Cannes International Film Festival at Cannes, France. To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the award, Mercedes-Benz will be shuttling the various dignitaries, movie stars, and other VIPs in a special fleet of gold-painted Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Yes, you read that right. While the pressor didn't say "gold paint" outright, we can effectively rule out gold-plated or, especially, made of gold. At the time of this post, gold is going for over $1,500 an ounce. These golden Mercedes vehicles shining the streets of Cannes include the S-Class flagship, the E-Class, entry-level C-Class, and others including a limo version based off the S-Class. Guests attending the Cinema Against AIDS gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc will be dazzled by a gold-painted Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. Both the SL-Class and AMG celebrate their anniversaries this year, with the Mercedes SL-Class turning 60 while Mercedes tuner haus better than ever at 45. Mercedes will also hold various test drives of its AMG vehicles to guests and visitors throughout the Cannes film festival. Interested parties can register at the Hotel InterContinental Carlton Cannes. Just look for the Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG prominently parked on its own stage outside the hotel. Source: Mercedes-Benz
