Mopar 2013 Dodge Dart to Debut at Chicago, Only 500 Will Be Built
In what appears to be a reoccurring trend, Chrysler Group has introduced the Mopar '13 Dart, which falls in line behind the Mopar '10 Challenger, Mopar '11 Charger, and Mopar '12 300. The latest Chrysler product to be customized by Mopar, the automaker's parts branch, will make its official debut at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show next week. Only 500 units will be built alongside the normal version of the Dodge Dart starting this spring at Chrysler's assembly facility in Belvidere, Ill. These special edition Darts will feature a wireless charging station for smartphones, lowered sport suspension, tweaked steering, a sport-tuned exhaust, a special brake kit, and a ground-effects kit. The driver's seat has also been customized with leather and a blue stripe running down the right side. Underneath the hood, a 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine provides power and is mated to a manual transmission. Outside, the Mopar '13 Dart features a gloss black finish and two Mopar blue stripes that run down the side of the vehicle, just like its three predecessors. Handling has been sharpened up thanks to a recalibration of the performance steering-gear, a suspension that has been lowered by 7 millimeters, and low-profile performance tires. Downforce has been increased with some help from a ground-effects kit which employs a front-chin spoiler, one-piece deck lid spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Each Mopar '13 Dart features a serial number on the dashboard, a wireless charging station for smartphones, and a steering wheel and shifter knob wrapped in blue leather. Even the pedals feature a Mopar blue finish. Inside, the Mopar '13 Dart includes an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment and navigation screen, blacks seats (minus the driver's chair) with blue accented stitching, and Mopar blue accent lights on the dashboard. Exterior styling tweaks include a Mopar badge on the crosshair front grille, 18-inch wheels dipped in gloss black paint, and a Mopar logo on the wheel center caps. Other features only found on the Mopar '13 Dart include a personalized owner kit with the manufacturing date and a serial identification number. A limited-edition sketch of the Mopar '13 Dart is also included and has been signed by Mark Trostle, Chrysler Group Chief Designer for Mopar. Source: Mopar
