More Than 32,000 BMWs Recalled Due To Fire Risk
A faulty electric water pump has prompted a recall of 32,084 BMW 5 and 7 Series, X5 and X6 models today. All of the models are powered by either a turbocharged V-8 engine or BMW's V-12 engine. At issue is a circuit board in the engine's auxiliary water pump. A fault in the circuit board's construction can cause it to overheat, potentially causing a fire. All of the affected vehicles were built between 2008 and 2011, and include the 5 Series sedan, 5 Series Gran Turismo hatchback, 7 Series, and the X5 and X6 utility vehicles. BMW will replace the faulty pump free of charge starting in November.
