New Audi Models, Pricing Announced

By Jason Davis | July 21, 2011
When Audi announced pricing and details on the 2012 TT RS last week, four additional new 2012 models also debuted, ranging from the mainstream to the exotic. The all-new 2012 Audi A6 features graceful German-styling, a plush, luxurious interior, and a choice of either a 211-horsepower four-cylinder or 310-hp V-6 engine; a hybrid may be coming our way next year. The new Audi A6 shed 78 pounds versus its predecessor through the extensive use of aluminum, including a new aluminum suspension that helps improve handling and driver control. Other new features include optional LED headlights, Audi Connect with Google Earth and Wi-Fi Hotspot capability, and a sporty "S line" package for base models. Prices begin at $41,700 for four-cylinder models and $49,900 for the V-6. Also all-new for 2012 is the A7. This luxurious five-door hatchback competes against the BMW 5 Series GT, extending Audi's reach into all areas of the luxury car market. Audi describes the new A7 design as an "icon" and "emotional," but we see "big-A6 fastback." Standard Audi interior amenities apply, but options include four-zone climate control and a Bang and Olufsen audio system with Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Google functionality with Wi-Fi Hotspot capability. With a 310 hp 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 and 28 mph highway, the A7 is sure to please spirited drivers as well as commuters. Prices begin at $59,250. Audi's A8 flagship is now equipped with more prestige for 2012. The A8 L W12 arrives with a 500-hp 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine and a $133,500 price tag, a $48,800 increase over the A8 L 4.2 Quattro. Consumers opting for this model are sure to appreciate its 4.4-second sprint to 60 mph as they get a massage from its 22-way adjustable Valcona leather seats. Other new features include Balao Brown interior package, and standard Google Earth and Wi-Fi Hotspot capability. Base model A8s come with a 372 hp 4.2 liter V-8 and Bose audio system, with prices starting at $78,750. While we're excited about the TT RS, it isn't the most exclusive new model for 2012. That title belongs to the limited-edition R8 GT Quattro Coupe, featuring the company's stellar 560-hp 5.2 liter V-10 engine. Limited to only 90 vehicles, the R8 GT Quattro Coupe includes exclusive colors, a plethora of lightweight carbon fiber body trim pieces, a fixed-wing rear spoiler, and an individually numbered gear shifter. While "base" R8s begin at $114,200, the Quattro Coupe will deflate its owner's bank account a cool $196,800--that's $54,666 per second to 60 mph, or slightly less than $100 per mph of top speed. Prices do not include destination charges or other fees. Source: Audi
